But that intro was one of the funniest things I’ve seen in ages
.the rest of the performance sounded terrible even by Grunge standards.
*w ith the exception of Dave Grohl on drums.

If you think Dave’s drums are the exception here, well...
The aim was to have sloppy sounding lyrics and guitars with simplistic, yet sharp percussions holding it all together.
Otherwise it would just sound like seventies rock. Which isn’t a bad thing, but that’s not grunge.

I grew up in Seattle, believe me I know the gist.
P eak 90's Grunge and a poor live p erformance don't HAVE to go hand-in-hand

Being born in Seattle causes you to immediately lose credibility points with me, but I like you, so I’ll award you them back.
But I just fucking hate Alice in Chains. They are the epitome of Seattleite culture, white, whiney, and unaware.

Eh, we’re pretty Chinese nowadays....
I wasn’t the biggest fan of Alice in Chains either (o r any of the big 90's Seattle groups to be honest ) but the above performance and a few other live performances.... God damn. Dude can sing. I don’t really li ke Sound garden either but again.... Watching a few live performances I was blown away by the vocal power. I was starting to think that Grunge just magically g ot 10x better live. Then I went to Nirvana as the next logical step and.... Meh

I grew up going to hardcore punk shows, and always saw Nirvana as a much more commercialized version of what I liked. Anything beyond that was way too much for me
Seattle was always Chinese, whether it looked the part or not.

Turn on any local radio station and there’s a good chance teen spirit or heart shaped box will be playing. It’s been like that for as long as I can remember, and is the main reason I avoid radio...
One of these days I’ll listen to some real punk, seeing as so many of my favorite metal groups were inspired by the genre. Lamb of God did a recent cover album that got me curious

So Kirk cobain was the only one who can play guitar? I saw Pearl Jam in ‘93 and they were pretty damn good live.

Eddie Vedder has some serious pipes. I'd like all these bands a lot more if I hadn't heard the same handful of hits played nonstop for the past 25 years on the radio, local commercials, parks, etc.

My wife used to play Jeff Amets fender P Base in a blue grass band like 20 years ago. Those guys are pretty cool. Jeff still lives in Missoula.

I have to wash my eyes out with bleach after reading “Lamb of God”, but definitely go listen to some Cro Mags. “The Age of Quarrel” is my go “drive the kids to school” album . They show up to class ready to teach.

Nirvana? Never heard of them every five minutes on the radio my entire life or anything.

There's this Jimi Hendrix guy you should look into. I think he'll be the next big thing

No, but my friend told me about this one band... Ivory Jelly? Nono... "Pearled Yams." Anyway, you've probably never heard of them.

I understand that people were ragging on Cobain for the guitar riff of Teen Spirit being a ripoff of Boston’s “More Than a Feeling”, so they goofed around with it at Rea d ing. Some time later, someone asked Tom Scholz about what he thought, whether he thought that Nirvana stole his riff. Turns out that Tom Scholz had never really listened to Nirvana, or most any other band’s music for that matter, so he didn’t know and didn’t care.
I’ve seen this several times, and I get a kick out of it especially since I do like Boston.

A great crash course in punk - it’s 101 punk bands playing 30(ish) second songs. Although this more more late 90's/early 2000's stuff (Bad Religion, NoFX, stuff liek that) it’s still got some great sutff on it.

Whats wrong with LoG? I mean if you’re just not into metal it’s fine, but they definitely have a lot of punk influence that shines through.
Also, CroMags kick ass.

I hadn't made the connection until the video, but as a fan of Boston too, yeah... Pretty hilarious!
